We get it, sometimes you might need a little bit of help. Williams County is part of the North Star Human Service Zone, which provides access to many public assistance programs for those who could use some help with groceries, heating costs, and rent. The North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services administers the following public assistance programs:

  • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (Food Assistance/SNAP)

Housing Stabilization

This program administered by the North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services is intended to assist those who are experiencing homelessness or are at imminent risk of eviction.

The Williston Housing Authority administers low income housing for qualifying low income elderly, disabled, and family households as well as the Housing Choice Voucher Program for Williams County.

Food Pantries

The Great Plains Food Book operates various food pantries across the state as well as a mobile food bank . Food pantries can offer both shelf stable and perishable food product to clients. When obtaining food from the pantry, clients are likely asked to fill out an intake form, which can include name, address, and number of people in household.
