Williston is a healthcare hub for the northwestern part of North Dakota, but Tioga is also home to a hospital and Ray is equipped with several clinics.  All-in-all, our community providers deliver great care you’d typically only find in larger communities 

For public health, Williams County is served by the Upper Missouri District Public Health Unit (UMDHU). Their main office and clinic location is in downtown Williston. UMDHU offers immunizations, women's and maternal health services, substance prevention activities, tobacco cessation, and implements sanitation rules and codes.

Public Behavioral Health Services 

Community Connect  

Community Connect is a program run by the ND Department of Health and Human Services for Care Coordination, Peer Support, and Recovery Services. These services are delivered by community-based providers. 

Northwest Human Service Center 

Williams County is served by the Northwest Human Service Center, which is located in downtown Williston (316 2nd Ave W). HSCs provide intense team-based behavioral health services in the community, such as school or home, to provide an optimal learning environment. Services are provided for substance use disorders and/or chronic and severe mental illness as well as crisis services. Each center holds walk-in hours Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, for individuals with immediate behavioral health needs.  

Crisis Stabilization Services

The Centre, Inc Stabilization Unit (CSU) provides 24/7 drop-in assessments and short-term residential crisis stabilization services for individuals ages 18 and older. The CSU is co-located with the Northwest Human Service Center and is managed by Centre, Inc.

Entry is on the east side of the Metro building in downtown Williston (309 Washington Ave W, Suite 3 South, Williston, ND 58801).

For 24 hour behavioral health crisis help, call or text 988. Admission to the residential side requires a crisis risk assessment by NWHSC crisis staff, contacted via 988. To contact the CSU directly, call (701) 987-3047).

Find a Service or Program 

Williams County is home to two critical access hospitals: CHI St. Alexius in Williston and Tioga Medical Center in Tioga. Both hospitals offer an Emergency Room, specialists, and surgical capabilities. CHI St. Alexius is also home to a newly renovated birthing center.
